Seed and Soil Work Built Around Florida Sand

Tampa Hydroseeding sprays new lawns, seeds construction sites and stabilizes bare ground across Tampa and the surrounding Bay area. We also set silt fence and inlet protection, lay erosion control blankets and hydromulch on slopes and swales, grade and topsoil yards, and patch thin or worn-out lawns.

Most of what we do is shaped by three local conditions. The ground is sand: Myakka, Florida's state soil, is a dark gray sand on top with gray sand beneath, and much of the soil under Tampa yards behaves the same way, draining fast at the surface while the water table can sit just inches down in the wet months. The weather runs on two seasons: a dry stretch from fall into spring and a summer rainy season from late May into early October, when August alone averages about 9 inches of rain. And the rules are real: the City of Tampa treats soil leaving a job site as an illegal discharge, and inspectors check that erosion controls are in place and maintained.

Our approach on a Tampa job

  • Nobody gets a number from us sight unseen; we look at the ground first, then put the estimate in writing
  • We ask how the area will be watered, since that decides which grass and which month make sense
  • We tell you when seed is the wrong answer, such as on a St. Augustinegrass lawn or a steep mound that should be sodded
  • Grading, soil prep and seeding each get their own line on the quote, so no cost is buried inside another
  • On building sites, the perimeter barrier and storm drain filters are set ahead of any earthwork
  • We leave you a written watering plan for the first weeks

We do not invent timelines to win a job. If your project would do better in a different month, or with sod instead of seed, we say so.
